“I can’t say how grateful I am for their love and care – there are no words. They also run so many events to help keep you stay connected if that’s what you want. Amazing place with amazing people. Would give them higher than 5* if could.”
Old Park Meadow is an award-winning natural burial ground in Essex, located between Chelmsford and Great Dunmow. Previously used for crops, the site has been planted and restored as a natural haven for plants and wildlife.
Over time, the graves become part of our landscape. By preserving their natural environment, our trees and plants become living memorials to those who lie there. Unlike a traditional cemetery, we leave nothing that is non-biodegradable to fall into disrepair. We want you to feel a personal connection to the land and offer wooden grave markers that can be placed on our burial and ash interment plots. We also supply slate tablets that can be engraved and placed in our oak memorial frame, or on one of our oak posts.
Our 34 acres of wildflower meadows and young woodland make Old Park Meadow an ideal spot for green and woodland burials. We continue to plant the grounds to strengthen our natural ecosystems and provide a tranquil space for families to visit and enjoy all year round.
We ensure that our natural burials are open to everyone, from anywhere. Whether you are planning a religious, non-religious, or humanist funeral, we offer a service that is catered to you. Our experienced team will do everything they can to accommodate your needs and wishes. With such high demand at crematoriums and traditional burial grounds, their services can feel rushed and impersonal. At Old Park Meadow, you are not constrained by fixed arrangements or time slots. You choose when and how you want the ceremony to be conducted. You will also be given the time and
space you need to say your goodbyes.
